The Storm at Sea quilt block itself is composed of two separate block units, a square in a square (in two sizes) and a diamond in a rectangle. The basic block is shown below in just two colors and also with more color, you needn't limit your design efforts to just two colors I have attached a grid for your convenience in color placement. You can find a number of color ways for Storm at Sea on Pinterest.
- General sewing supplies
- Sewing machine
- Fabric - I used 6 colors in the quilt above. The first block example used 2 colors and the second example used 4 colors. Use the graph to play with color. Also if you have an Electric Quilt software program, that will be really helpful in deciding on colors. Once you decide on colors, I’d bring at least 1 yard of each color to be safe.
- Diamond template - I will provide a cardboard template but if you have or want to purchase the template, I got mine at Coastal Stitches.
- Rotary Cutter
*Please print the grid and bring it with you to class*
Cutting Instructions: We will cut the blocks in class
