Important Entry Details

Entries will be accepted from October 1 through January 15. In the meantime, take some time now to look at the things you need to know about creating and entering your masterpiece in our March 2027 show. Check out the Categories first, then follow up with the Terms & Conditions as well as any other important information you need to know before you enter your quilt.

Entry will be open to all who wish to enter their quilts, whether they are guild members or not. The show is intended to showcase quilts from the Emerald Coast area of Northwest Florida.

Judged Categories

Large Pieced

An entry in this category is predominantly pieced, with a width plus height larger than 140”. *

Medium Pieced

An entry in this category is predominantly pieced, with a width plus height between 120” and 140”. *

Small Pieced

An entry in this category is predominantly pieced, with a width plus height smaller than 120”. *

Applique

An entry in this category is predominantly hand or machine appliquéd.

Modern

An entry in this category is inspired by modern design, including but not limited to quilts with bold colors, minimalist or maximalist in design, asymmetrical, improv, or with expansive negative space.

Mixed Technique

An entry in this category combines two or more predominant techniques, such as appliqué and piecing, or appliqué and embroidery (hand or machine).

Other

An entry in this category does not fit into the above categories (including but not limited to art, pictorial, abstract, whole cloth, or digital prints).

Show Theme

An entry in this category can be made in any style which reflects the quilt show theme, “How Does Your Garden Grow?”

Non-Judged Categories

Classroom Showcase

We will include an exhibit of quilts made in FNQG-related activities. These include mystery quilts, block of the month, row-by-row, round robin, or December blocks. The category also includes quilts or quilt-related items made in an FNQG workshop or retreat class. A member having one (or more) of these quilts can choose to enter their quilt in one of the judged categories above or display it in this exhibit.

Patriotic Showcase

Quilts of Valor and other patriotic themed quilts, meant to showcase our work on behalf of local veterans, and honor this nation’s 250’s birthday celebration. A member having a patriotic quilt may choose to enter their quilt in one of the judged categories above or display it in this exhibit.

Non-Judged

A maker may wish to show a quilt but not want their entry to be judged. Those quilts should be entered into this category regardless of what techniques were used. While we encourage all quilters to enter their quilts in a judged category, we will leave this category open to be used at the discretion of the maker. We also reserve the right to move quilts to this category as needed based on limits set by the judge. Affected entrants will be contacted regarding a change of category.

Terms & Conditions

In exchange for participation in the 2027 Emerald Coast Quilt Show, I agree with the following:

I agree to loan the entry described on the Quilt Show Entry Form to Flying Needles Quilt Guild (FNQG) for the 2027 Emerald Coast Quilt Show.
I agree to allow FNQG to display my entry at the 2027 Emerald Coast Quilt Show.
I grant FNQG the right to photograph my entry for publicity and/or promotional purposes, which may include print, website, and video.
I can confirm my entry has not been displayed at a previous Emerald Coast or Flying Needles Quilt Guild Show.
I have selected ONE category for each of my submitted quilt(s). While every effort will be made to honor my selected category, I understand the category may be changed at the discretion of the Quilt Show Committee for reasons including, but not limited to combining categories with five or fewer entries, adjusting the sizes in the pieced categories, or moving the quilt to a category deemed more appropriate by the Quilt Show Committee or the Judge.
I understand the Quilt Show Committee will hire a nationally certified judge, who will, at her sole discretion, award ribbons in each judged category, along with merit ribbons for Excellent Hand Work (including hand quilting), Excellent Machine Quilting, and Excellent Overall Technique. There will also be a Best of Show ribbon awarded by the judge, and a Viewers’ Choice selected by show attendees and awarded on the last day of the show.
I understand entries considered by the Quilt Show Committee to be offensive may be denied acceptance into the show.
I understand the Quilt Show Committee reserves the right to limit the number of quilts accepted, based on available space, and to limit the number of quilts judged, based on limits set by the judge and/or the Quilt Show Committee.
In the event the Quilt Show is cancelled, I understand my entry fee(s) will be returned to me, and I agree to otherwise hold FNQG, its officers and members harmless for any expenses incurred by me in anticipation of the show.
I understand that, should I decide to offer my quilt for sale, FNQG and the Emerald Coast Quilt Show Committee’s sole responsibility will be to hang a sign on the quilt and provide my name and phone number to potential buyers. The Guild and Committee will not assume responsibility for discussing prices with potential buyers, for collecting payment, or for distributing the quilt to the buyer at the end of the show.
I understand liability insurance is the sole responsibility of each quilt owner and FNQG and the Emerald Coast Quilt Show does not assume liability for loss or damage of any nature to my quilt. I agree to hold FNQG, its officers and members harmless for any staining, damage, wear-and-tear, or theft of my quilt(s) which are in their possession for the 2027 Emerald Coast Quilt Show.
